Delivery:

Classes are delivered online on Thursday evenings from 7.00pm – 10.00pm for 12 weeks. Classes are live and are not recorded.

This 10 credit Special Purpose Award is ideal as an introduction to the principles of project management for employees and owners of SME’s who have an interest in learning how to plan and manage a project from the early stages of defining the work, to completion and handover.

Qualification

Certificate in Project Management (10 credits, Level 6)

Assessment

The assessment is by continuous assessment.

 

Course Content

  • Introduction: Understanding project management functions, the project life cycle, key roles, project steering team, teambuilding and stakeholders
  • Scope Management: Developing goals and objectives, using work breakdown structures, risk & issue identification & management
  • Time Management: Scheduling techniques, estimating durations, event relationships, critical path analysis (CPA), network diagrams, scheduling with resource constraints, PERT analysis, use of Gantt charts, project drift, project termination and evaluation
  • Cost Management: Cost estimation and budgeting, cost control,  project tracking and earned value analysis
  • Computer-aided Project Management: Introduction to a PC-based project management package including Microsoft Project and a guide to software selection.
